This week, I started the Matters of the Heart 52-Week Scripture Memorization Challenge. It has long been a goal of mine to commit more scripture to memory. This plan has a weekly devotional to go with each memory verse, so I’m excited. To help, I’m jouraling the verse in my Bible, putting it in my planner, and changing the lock screen on my phone to a picture of the weekly verse.
The first memory verse for the year is about pride.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart. -Proverbs 21:2 (ESV)
In my pride, I often think I’m right. Whether it be about my plans, an argument with my husband, how to do something at work, how I parent my son…I often think I have the best plan and the right answer. This verse is a reminder to me that my ways are flawed and can’t compare to the ways of God.
My prayer: Lord, help me to always seek your ways. Let me not insist on my way because it is flawed. Amen.
What is your plan for hiding God’s Word in your heart? I’d love to know.
